I think that it's the shadows in the cover. The colours are really just black, white and that one red... but the fact that they put shadows and stuff in it makes it look busy. =)

I think the cover is pretty, but it's not really Twilight-ish. I am so dreading when this book comes out. I think I am just going to wait to see everyone else's reactions before I buy the book.

you'll probably cave and buy it immediately! we are slaves to the Twilight fandom... or at least I am- and I don't even like where the story is going...

it's definitely better than the New Moon and Eclipse covers though. Twilight's was the only one which made sense to me.

oh, i definitely agree. the ribbon thing on eclipse greatly confused me.

i quite like it. but ... did she really just quote a part of the book on the cover? i mean, i can see the flaps just fine, but it looks like it's not even on that.

i'm not sure about having words on it, but i like the symbolism. i wonder what the queen and pawn pieces represent.

nono... it's a poster. You know how the New Moon Special Edition had an Eclipse poster with the cover on it? Same thing with the Eclipse Special Edition now.

I do like the symbolism too. Except "Harry Potter" leaps out at me a lot, so I'm predicting they are captured by the volturi and have to play a giant chess game with moving chess figures before they can get out. ;)

yeha! i saw this on facebook yesterday ;P (because i really don't go on facebook a lot, really really!) i like it. because it has the queen as a chess piece. and i like chess..when i really suck at it. and YEAH! lol

Someone at sortofbeautiful suggested that it symbolizes Bella's change from human (pawn) to vampire (queen). Initially I thought "okay then the pieces should be the same colour", but then I figured that red = blood = human, whereas white = marble = sparklez = vampirism.That's pretty much the best bet I've got so far, but ...eh. I don't like the cover; it's too complicated to fit with the other books. It probably should've just been the white queen piece.

...well the pawn is aproaching the castle which is a small player overtaking an important player. so that could mean something. and the quote of the day today bella was asking mike how she could go on. so mike maybe could be the pawn? but of course jacob's still not out the picture comepletely. last i heard he ran away and was somewhere in northern canada and bella is calling seth daily to check any news on him...so of course it could represent jacob. i'm pretty sure the castle is edward. a castle is shelter, protection, solid...like edward. i think the cover reporesents a threat to edward's hold on bella.
